Dr. Arindam Basu, Director General,
NITRA, apprised about the research
facilities and projects undertaken by
Northern India Textiles Research As-
sociation in the field of technical tex-
tiles, especially protective textiles.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS),
the National Standards Body of India
has introduced IS 15748: 2022 formu-
lated to specify the performance re-
quirements of the protective clothing
for industrial workers exposed to heat.

Also, to ensure safety of hands, BIS
has published IS 16874 on protective
gloves for firefighters. This standard
prescribes unique & distinct design &
performance requirements for protec-
tive gloves against injury in firefight-
ing operations.

BIS has also published IS 15809:
2018 which specifies the requirements
