The Textile Association (India), Mumbai Unit is organizing a One Day Seminar on “Technical Textiles – Need of Today and Tomorrow” on Saturday, 29th January 2022 at Hotel Fortune Park Galaxy, Vapi (Gujarat).
Technical Textiles – Need of today and tomorrow
Textile Industry is one of the key sectors which generates substantial revenue and employment. The Indian Textile Industry hence has demonstrated immense potential towards nation building even under distress situation of Corana Covid-19 pandemic. However, it involves huge investments to convert the potential into performance by way of modernization, environmental compliance and cost competitiveness along with aiming for achieving international quality standards in the products.
Government schemes like TUFS, Production linked incentive (PLI) Scheme, MITRA mega cluster development, specialised incentivization to MSME sector with special emphasis on ‘Make in India’, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ have laid the foundation for investments and promotion in the textile sector for enterprise promotion, modernization and expansion. The shift in manufacture of Technical Textile has opened up high performance products as mark of positive development.
Technical Textiles provide new growth opportunities to the Indian Textile Industry to have long term sustainable future. Indian market of Technical Textiles during FY 2019-20 was over US $ 19 Billion (Rs.1.45 Lakh Cr.) with an average growth rate (CAGR) of 12%. While Global Market size of technical textile was around US $ 256 Billion in 2019 and average growth rate (CAGR) is 4%. The strategic development in a knowledge based industry, like Technical Textiles, will need access to a range of speciality raw materials, Indigenous Machinery manufacturing with latest technology and focus on cutting edge R&D with skilled man-power, which are still lacking in India. The dependence can eventually be reduced by further investing in the above areas. The Indian textile industry is currently very much excited towards diversification and new investments in technical textile projects due to various reasons, some of them are attractive Govt schemes like PLI, NTTM, ATUFS, MITRA mega park development and other incentives. In addition to domestic market growth, India can grab the major opportunities in the global technical textile market, reaching out to different application domains like, health care, defense, construction, agriculture, sports, composites, environment, smart technologies and many more. The deliberations in this seminar will show the future trend to do more towards new arenas of research, innovation, market development and investments in technical textile business.
One of the key factor for the integrated development of the textile industry is “Technology Upgradation” to create level playing field in the global market with appropriateness of the Technology to meet the quality, environmental compliance, productivity, design development and product diversification and cost competitiveness in the entire value chain. Every sector of the textile industry has to address the concurrent issues to face the diversified challenges. In this pursuit, weaving and knitting and processing sectors play a crucial role as the best quality fabric with price competitiveness should be made available through innovative technologies emerging in the global market. The technological challenges are discoursed in various forums and The Textile Association (India), Mumbai Unit, has been arranging these events not only in the business capital- Mumbai but also in other tier cities and clusters to bring home the important issues to the doorsteps of the practicing technologists and technicians in Vapi cluster.
