It is with deep sense of sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing away of Shri Pranlal Tapulal Kamdar on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Rajkot. Shri PT Kamdar was 83. He was not keeping well from last couple of years. He left behind his beloved wife Indira and daughters – Nitika Sanjiv Nandani and Roopa Dhanraj Mehta. Nitika, settled in Rajkot, is running a pathology laboratory with her MD Pathologist husband. Roopa is settled in Australia working as a Research Scientist in Australian Blood Bank. Her husband is a CA.
Shri PT Kamdar was born on September 2, 1932 in Mumbai. He did his B.Sc. (Tech.) in Textile Chemistry from the erstwhile UDCT, Mumbai (now Institute of Chemical Technology -ICT) in 1956. After completing M.Sc. (Tech.) from Manchester in 1959, he joined Delhi Cloth Mills (DCM) in Delhi. He had also worked in Khatau Mills, Finlay Mills, Shree Ram Mills, Piramal Mills, Shreeniwas Cotton Mills. He was last working as Dyeing and Finishing Manager in Ahmedabad-based Maneklal Harilal Mills (MH Mills), where our Editor came in contact with him in 1983. This contact continued even after his retirement as he was quite active in various textile bodies like, The Textile Association (India) and The Association of Chemical Technologists (India) of which he was one of the Founder members. He was also on the Advisory Board of New Cloth Market and actively supported our activities.
During last 15 years, he was living in Rajkot. Initially he worked as a freelance textile consultant in Jetpur area. But from the last 7-8 years, he was not keeping well and his movements were mainly confined to his house. A few years ago, his family had expressed a desire to reproduce an article about him which was published in the Colourage. We couldn’t do so then but today, we are reproducing it as a mark of our respect for the deceased.
We offer our condolences to the family members. May God give them strength to bear this tragic loss. RIP.
