In its endeavour to retain leadership position in the Indian fabric market, Mafatlal Fabrics, a flagship company of Arvind Mafatlal Group, is all set to enhance its presence in the school uniform shirting market. And to do this its tying up with school uniform shirting marketing Zee Fabrics for stocking and distribution of its uniform shirting across India. As a part of the tie-up, Mafatlal Fabrics will get an opportunity to distribute its school uniform across India through Zee Fabrics INC’s 140 odd dealers. This is in addition to Mafatlal Fabrics 80 odd exclusive uniform suiting and shirting distributors.
Commenting on the tie-up, M B Raghunath, Senior Vice President at Mafatlal Industries said, “Emergence of new schools and colleges across the country has been providing growth prospects to the school uniform market. Keeping in mind the tie-up, we have increased our production of school and corporate uniforms shirting product range by 120 lakh mtrs in addition to the existing production. We have also increased our uniform suiting production from 50 lakh mtrs to 70 lakh mtrs.”
Mafatlal fabrics, in the last three years have produced high quality uniform items such as fibre dyed suiting range in more than 100 shades and 3,000 plus designs in shirting with creative shade combination patterns. The growing market for private education and schooling in India is providing growth prospects to the uniform fabrics industry. State governments are also creating opportunities for the textile companies as they offer uniforms through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to the schools run by Municipalities and Gram Panchayats. At present, the size of school uniform market is Rs 10,000 crores and its growing at 15 per cent per annum.
