TEXPROCIL – The International Face of Indian Cotton Textiles
The activities of Texprocil extend to all areas related to promotion of exports. Collation & dissemination of information and trade enquiries, facilitating an interface between domestic manufacturers and the global market are a few among the many activities undertaken by the Council.
Texprocil participates in several international trade fairs and exhibitions, which has opened a new avenue for sellers in India to exhibit their products, field enquiries and negotiate business deals. This increased international presence has made Texprocil the face of Indian cotton textiles.
Invaluable inputs are provided to the Government of India in the area of framing policies that have a bearing on the exports of cotton textiles. This has helped in the creation and nurturing of a healthy trade climate and exporter-friendly policies, which has been the primary reason for the increase in exports. Texprocil has played a significant role in various bilateral & multilateral negotiations at the World Trade Organization.
The rise in exports has spawned policies in the overseas market with few local Governments seeking protection for their domestic producers. Anti-Dumping and Safeguard Measures have been amongst the popular instruments in this regard. Texprocil has played a very important role in unifying Indian defense against these punitive measures which has helped the Indian cotton textile industry to withstand these pressures and come out stronger.
For the year 2019-20, 58 Awards were distributed in 34 different categories. Out of the 44 companies receiving the award, 5 companies are receiving the prestigious Award for the first time. Texprocil’s decision three years ago of awarding companies for generating highest employment in overall terms and by MSMEs and also for employing women has drawn an enthusiastic response from the members.
According to Manoj Patodia, Texprocil Chairman, the Award winning exporters have shown great resilience through sheer hard work and dedicated efforts to achieve their respective business goals by emerging on top of the competition among their peers. “The Texprocil Awards have inculcated a healthy spirit of competition among our member exporters and I am glad that every year new companies arc also emerging as winners of the coveted and prestigious Awards.”
