The Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (ITAMMA) – having around 450 members from all centres of the Textile Engineering Industry in India – organised a seminar on ‘Organization Alignment for Success in Totality’ on February 22, 2013 at Hotel Park Plaza, Ahmedabad. The event was co – sponsored by Citibank.
Dr. Gunjan Arora – principal consultant at the ADDVALUE Consulting Inc.- gave her detailed presentation on ‘Organization Alignment for Success in Totality.’ In her talk she emphasised on the ‘Vision’ as well as on the Mission’ of the organisation. She explained at length how to achieve allignment of various key factors at different levels in an organisation to accomplish the targeted goals. Dr. Arora also highlighted various key factors that affect the employee-employer relationship and also ways and means to proper allignment of employees with the organisation’s vision so that they can give their best. She advised managers to be critical of the way an employee works rather than criticise him/her personally. Additionally, they should be properly aligned to what the organization is promising and should think “we” and not “I”. Employees should be given clear picture of their possible roles at an elevated level in the organisation in future if they fulfill certain given performance criteria in their present role. Result-Oriented organisation should focus on aligning performance with it’s goals. Employees must be clear about performance expectations and its evaluation systems and the organisation’s mission. If they clearly understand this corelation then they will put efforts on those activities that are most important for the goal accomplishment. Dr. Arora gave textile machinery makers very valuable tips for getting the best from their staff.

Dr. Chandan Chatterjee, chief guest, speaking on the occasion, gave details of the government’s investment-friendly industrial policies including the recently announced textile policy. However, he cautioned enterpreneurs to clearly determine what was best for them keeping in mind their own capabilities rather than what other people were going for. Dr. Chatterjee observed that in view of the rising costs in China, opportunities for India in the textile and clothing sector would be immense in future. But, he opined that not everyone would be able to grab them. Only the most competent and eligible firms would be the winners. He praised Dr. Arora’s lecture in this regard and urged enterpreneurs to ensure proper allignment wherever required to cash on these opportunities.
